Keeping their winning streak intact, Odisha emerged champions in the Dhruv Pandove Trophy U-19 Cricket Tournament, trouncing Vidarbha in the final by 118 runs at I S Bindra Stadium in Mohali today. This was the fourth win in a row for Odisha boys, who earlier defeated Tripura, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
Electing to bat in the final, Odisha compiled a competitive total of 248, thanks to a half-century each by openers Priyatam Singh and Rajesh Dhuper. The duo stitched together 130 runs in 27.1 overs to give Odisha a solid start.
Dhuper became the top scorer, hammering an 87-ball 84, which included eight boundaries and two sixes. Priyatam fell just after completing his fifty off 87 balls (3x4, 1x6). Sandeep Patnaik was another successful batsman for Odisha, hitting a 64-ball 47.
Chasing 249 for victory, Vidarbha were bundled out for 130 in 37.5 overs. Pacer Ashutosh Das destroyed the opposition batting line-up, scalping five wickets for 29 runs. Subham Nayak and Jamal Bhanjan Mahapatra picked up two wickets apiece.
